Regretfully, I have one final question

I've already downloaded the K-Lite Codec Pack Standard version onto my desktop, but have not yet installed it.

I've since noticed that there is also a 'mirror' version available. If I simply want the Codec Pack to broaden the capabilities of my Windows Media Player, should I install the regular standard version or the mirror version? I've scoured the Internet in attempt to find out what a 'mirror' program is, but remain uncertain.

Once again, your assistance is very much appreciated. Thanks.

Could someone please clarify for me exactly what will happen after I download the K-Lite Codec Pack (standard version)? I'm using Windows XP Professional, which of course includes Windows Media Player (WMP). My goal is simply to be able to play .m4a audio files on my computer.

Once downloaded, does this codec pack "automatically" integrate with WMP (and any other media player on my computer) to permit the playing of this file format? (If I sound clueless on this issue… it’s because I am.) Many thanks for your clarification.

in answer to "southbeach", yes, this works fine with windows98se, and plays any file that i have encountered so far but i have a question for those more clued-up than i: ever since installing k-lite i can't use my cd burner (nero) i get an "internal error"
.. etc. message and the program shuts down. in furiating!!!
I would greatly appreciate some help. thanx.

No BS player anymore? :/
Also, I un-installed Quicktime like the instal advised... but media player classic is not recognising quick time media.
A dissapointment compared to previous releases.

Great pack, allows me to see every movie i've got finally. But after installing this pack my explorer doesn't seem to recognize any of my players as default, i have to maually choose "open with..." from the right click menu to open them with Windows media player classic..any ideas?

This was working great, but sonme Xvid videos did not play. I uninstalled k-lite and installed xvid codec from http://www. xvid****** .com and the same videos played fine. I believe there is a problem with k-lite, and I don't know official k-lite site and cannot report this.

Thank you very much for this pack!
i have been trying a lot of codecs so i could solve my problem -no sound on any .AVI- and when i installed this pack, puff... all my problems went away, everything now works d**n fine! :)

"Simply the best"? I don't agree with you because there are missing support for newer players like wmp 10 so, I had to use other players to watch my movies, my brother too. We have been using this pack since 2.20 but there have been problems in some of the later versions. can't remember which but bottom line we haven't had luck since 2.41 on our computers so we swiched codecs and players and all is working now.

In order to play some videos in my PC I downloaded K-Lite Codec Pack Basic. Unfortunately, I still cannot play those videos. After opening one of those video files with GSpot I could determine my PC lacks of a codec named MPEG2_Video, GSpot states "Codec(s) are NOT Installed". What should I do?

Are you trying to play media that will not appear on your screen? Black screen, audio only?? Then this is the one that gets the job done. They do a great job when having to deal w/ media that covers huge different codecs that are used out there. Just be warned that some media players like "InterAct" dvd player may not like Media Player Classic that is bundled here. I don't care to use interact, I actually prefer MPC to play my dvd's. The ability to skip trailers and load up commmercials is TOP NOTCH!

hum is there a version for mac? I cannot dowload it in a file that works so does any of you know how to make this work or where? If there is nowhere I think mac users should have the same oportunities as windows users.... please make a mac version.

Please, someone can help me to resolve the crash of Windows Media Player every time I try to play mp3 or wma files, since I installed the K-lite codec pack? (No problem with any other audio/video player, like Winamp, BSPlayer, Media Player Classic... Only with WMP, but I like it for playing music...).
My operating system is XP SP2.

Stay away from this codecs if you got a low end specs or try to run this on old pentium 3. If you got 2ghz and above comp, then that won't be a problem. I tried and test it out and all 3 test machine show sound lag and freeze. Get the new ffdshow instead. The ffdshow feature a new postprocessing filter.The quality is about even or better at lower processing power. Want more? turn on a lot of it's option.
